New Trioxane Technology
Trioxane has favourable characteristics that makes it a very suitable feedstock:
• Trioxane is a stable solid that dissolves very well in water.
• Its density is about 1.2 kg/l, melting point is 64 ⁰C.
• It is not toxic to microbes.
We have isolated bacteria with the ability to grow at the expense of trioxane from environmental samples.
The metabolic route of trioxane has been established, an hithrtoo unknown microbial process.
Genes and their corresponding enzymes in the degradation of trioxane have been identified.
These genes can be transferred into a broad range of existing production strains such as E. coli.
